Gaius Julius Caesar is a great historical personality, which has become the inspiration of many artists. Presented him as a brilliant strategist, dictator, literate and lover, he is always surrounded by a dark atmosphere of mystery, treason and death.

Piotr Mateusz Wach, follow the footsteps of performance ‘Richard’. The body of the anger decides to face another legendary Shakespearean hero. The presentation is inspired by Japanese dance Butō, the artist sacrifices his body to create a complex psychological profile of the figure of the great Roman leader, presenting him in the extreme and final situation. Betrayed, lonely and helpless Caesar must face the portrait created by the conspirators surrounding him, to account for his own faults and lose himself in the endless dance of Death.

Performance created during the art residency program Project:life in Iceland, 2017.

Opening performance was August 3 rd , 2017 at the 21 st SzekspirOFF Festival in Gdansk.
